Serious case of the winter blahs

Jan. 30, 2008

I have to say that this winter has been worse than any I can remember. Not because of the weather–although that’s certainly part of it. In reality this winter’s weather hasn’t been any worse than than other years. No, this winter is worse because I’ve suddenly become more fanatical about riding my motorcycle.

I’m not 100% sure why I’ve gotten this way–maybe because I don’t really have anything else going on in my life right now (outside of work and home life). No hobbies. No babies on the way (whew). And I really don’t like snow. I don’t like driving in it. I don’t like playing in it. I don’t like shoveling it. And last (but not least), I don’t like the fact that the arrival of snow means the end of my riding season (and the continued presence of snow makes it impossible to even see a light at the end of the tunnel).

So what am I doing now? Checking out motorcycles for sale on Craigslist. Reading motorcycle magazines. Polishing my Multistrada. Looking at pictures I’ve taken on past rides. And waiting. Waiting for the roads to thaw and the riding to begin.

Here’s to spring!
