Had the chance last Friday to ride the North Umpqua Highway, but chose to skip it because I wasn’t in the mood to buzz down 97 and then back up I-5…was looking for something that’d keep me more entertained. My riding buddy suggested the Quartzville Road. Where is that, I asked. Just this side of Marion Forks and just the far side of the Santiam Pass. Where’s it go? Sweet Home. Sweeeeeet. I’ve included some photos here and will add more about it later. Like the title says, though, it was amazing.
We lunched in Sweet Home, then headed to Springfield so we could catch the McKenzie Hwy back. McKenzie was fun, but there was lots of smoke up there from all the fires burning Central Oregon, so we didn’t do a lot of pics. Pulled off onto some double-track a couple of times–which is the first time I’ve ever witnessed my buddy’s GS in a real dual sport environment. Luckily nobody got hurt and no motorcycles went belly up. Just a great, great motorcycle ride.
