So I’ve found a really good cure for PMS…two actually. The first is buying another motorcycle to dink with in the garage and ride when the roads are still covered in cinder–like a 1999 KLR 650. The second is a few weeks of warm weather that melts all the snow and ice.

I learned a new acronym while reading through the Multistrada.net website the other day–PMS…also known as Parked Motorcycle Syndrome. As soon as I read it, I knew without a doubt that was my current problem. I always liked my 02 Honda 919 best when I was riding it (never did much for me in the garage, though). I like to look at my Multi and enjoy making it shine. It’s a much sexier beast than any other bike I’ve ever owned, but after a while I just need to ride it.

I have to say that this winter has been worse than any I can remember. Not because of the weather–although that’s certainly part of it. In reality this winter’s weather hasn’t been any worse than than other years. No, this winter is worse because I’ve suddenly become more fanatical about riding my motorcycle.

My current Motorcycle obsession started a little over two and a half years ago. I’d been riding for about five years prior to that, but up until then it wasn’t an obsession–more of hobby. Maybe because I had other things to do…working on my degree, a new baby girl, reserve work with the Sheriff’s Department. I finally finished the degree and wrapped up my work with the Sheriff’s Dept. and found myself without a lot to do.
